No snails in petstores in our area

Hi, I have noticed lately that none of our petstores here carry any type of snails, they used to, why would they stop carrying any? I did ask at one store and they said they just can't get them. Weird!! I know I used to see snails at these stores.

I am from Massachusetts and have not seen snails in petstores that often. The few I have seen have not looked healthy.

We're in Pennsylvania. I think I'll call around today and talk to the store managers to find out.

Snails are harder to find because of the shipping permits that are required. Once owners/breeders have their permits more should be showing up. Of course there are also those who have decided to no longer breed/sell or buy them because of the hassle involved.

Most of the big suppliers were importers, and they have just about totally been denied permits. It takes a while to develope new sources. Check aquabid. Lots of good providers there.

I got my two recent purchases of apples here in St. Louis at petsmart.
