A limpkin has catched an apple snail (Pomacea paludosa).

Lilipads in the everglades. Apple snails (Pomacea paludosa) are quite common in these pads.

The snail kite (Rostrhamus sociabilis) is major predator on apple snails in South Florida and Central and South America.

Another photograph of this beautiful bird. Sadly enough, the destruction of the habitat causes a drop in the apple snail population, and hereby the food source of these birds becomes depleted.
